Mike Gomez and I played jr high football together, we rode motorcycles, were friends all through high school and beyond.  But what I remember best is how he grew into such a wonderful man, a family man, caring so much for his God, his wife, his children and grand children.  Mike was just a good guy.  We miss him.

SERVICES: 4:00 PM Thursday, September 23, 2010, at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, with Rev. Francisco Perez, pastor, officiating.

BURIAL: Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Gomez was born July 27, 1953 in Littlefield. He had been a resident of Pampa most of his life, graduating from Pampa High School in 1971. Mike married Kathy Haynes on May 24, 1975 in Pampa. After working for Celanese for 26 years, he attended Amarillo College to earn a certification as a surgical technician. He worked for Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo in labor and delivery for the past 7 years. He was a member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church. Mike enjoyed golfing, wood working, spending time with his family, and special times with his grandson, Hylee.

SURVIVORS: wife: Kathy Gomez of the home; 2 daughters: April Gomez and Michelle Resendiz and husband Joe, all of Pampa; 1 son: Mathew Gomez and fiancée Crystal of Atwater, Minnesota; grandson: Hylee Gomez of Pampa; granddaughter: Hanah Gomez of Atwater, Minnesota; mother: Heraclia Gomez of Pampa; 2 brothers: Alfonso Gomez and wife Geneva of Washington, DC, and Alonso Gomez and wife Ann of Atlanta, Texas; mother-in-law and father-in-law: Joy and Walden Haynes of Pampa; 2 brothers-in-law: Steve Haynes and wife Linda of Stratford, and Gary Haynes and wife Margaret of Mounds, Oklahoma; numerous nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his father: Felix Gomez in 2002.
