I do remember Steve Bailey. There is nothing I can nail down. I do know he was in the ''Class of 71". One thing all who are "In Memory" have in common is they passed away to young! As for all here God knows where they are now! So good-by to you Seve Bailey from all who really did know you!

Stephen Vern Bailey

Stephen Vern Bailey, 56, of Amarillo died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Mobeetie Cemetery in Mobeetie by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Celebration of life services will be at 3 p.m. in Grace Church Calvary Chapel with the Rev. Bill Gehm, pastor, officiating.

Steve was born June 23, 1953, in Pampa and graduated in 1971 from Pampa High School. He attended Frank Phillips College in Borger and graduated from Texas Tech University, completing his education with a master's degree in economics at the University of Texas at Arlington. Steve worked many years in the computer industry, helping numerous home builders operate better through the implementation of back office accounting and purchasing systems. During his consulting assignments, he was able to explore America's antiquarian book stores searching for treasures to add to his vast book collection.

Steve was a founding member of Grace Church, returning to attendance in April 2008 after living many years in Carrollton and attending Redeemer Evangelical Covenant Church. Steve was inspired by his Savior, music, books and his family's beloved "Ponderosa" in Mobeetie. He loved to laugh and fellowship with his friends and family. He will be sorely missed.

Survivors include his wife, Julie Simmons Bailey; a son Ben; a son, Austin and wife Ashley and daughter Katie, all of Chicago; his parents, O.V. "Bill" and Louise Bailey of Pampa; and a sister, Vicki Chenault and husband Donnie of Austin.

Steve and I were in Boy Scouts together and had a lot of fun throughout Jr High on our camping trips.  We usually sat and had lunch with the rest of our friends then and later in high school.  This is the first time I knew he had passed on. I am deeply saddened that he is gone. God rest his good soul.
