Steve Glen Young
December 13, 1952 - September 4, 2012

Steven Glen Young was born December 13, 1952 to John D. Young, Sr. and Roselene (Watson) Young in Pampa, Texas. Steve was the third child of this union.

Steve attended Carver Senior Elementary School and graduated from Pampa High School in 1971. In High School, he played basketball with the Pampa Harvesters. He had a love of sports. Especially basketball. But most of all - he loved his Dallas Cowboys!

For those who really knew Steve - he was the "consummate jokester." When he came around "it was on". Never a dull moment. Good, bad or indifferent, "Steve was just Steve."

In 1976, Steve came to Portland to join his eldest sister, Shirlene, her husband, grandmother and other relatives. His mother decided that they couldn't be without him, so she packed up the rest of his siblings and came to Portland in 1977. Brother John was the last holdout and said "you can't leave me." He came in 1978. During the early 80's he worked as a roofer for Parsley Roofing Company (on top of the world). He also worked with his brother David as a painter/landscaper. Always in the family business.

Steve enjoyed fishing and hunting with his dad and brothers. And singing to the top of his lungs, anything to do with Marvin Gaye. You would have thought that he was Marvin.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents John D. Young, Sr., Roselene (Watson) Young, and brother Bruce Dale Young. He leaves to mourn him, 2 daughters, Rocena Lazette Darton (Portland) and Stephanie Young (Salem). Both of them near and dear to his heart. Siblings, Shirlene Moffet Miller, John D. Young, Jr., Linda Sue Young, Norine Kay Young, Jackie Lee Young, Thelma Ann (Young)Thomas, David Young, Barbara Ann Young, Rosetta LaChele (Young) Smith, Victoria Ladale (Young) Bozman and Atrecia Deon (Young) Orr, numerous nieces and nephews. And a host of family and friends.
