Kristy Gowdy (Irby)

Kristy Gowdy Irby, 68, of Benbrook, Texas, passed away on November 4, 2021 in Benbrook.

No services are scheduled at this time. Creamation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael Wheatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Kristy was born June 24, 1953 to Kenneth and Billie Sue Gowdy in Elk City, Oklahoma.  The family soon moved to Pampa where she attended Pampa schools and graduated from Pampa High School in 1971. After graduation she was employed at the Pampa News.  She moved to Amarillo continuing in this field of work.  Later, she moved to Lubbock where she worked for Texas Instruments.  Kristy married Mike Irby and had one daughter, BrookeIrby in 1981.  Kristy moved back to Amarilloto pursue her education in Nuclear Medicine, graduating from Amarillo College. After receiving her degree, she relocated to Hobbs, New Mexico in 1996.  She worked at Lee Regional Medical Center until 2000 when she moved to Lubbock and worked at the University Medical Center and two private practice cardiology clinics.  She relocated to Benbrook in 2005 and worked for Baylor Medical Center as PRN until she retired in 2016.  She helped with the care of her mother until her mother was placed in assisted living.  She was a dedicated employee and was committed to the heart patients she cared for. Kristy was a member of AA for over 40 years and had numerous friends she considered her family.  Kristy was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and tried to watch every game.  Kristy had a deep love for her fur babies, Olivia, Katy Mae, Lilly and Dax P. who were spoiled beyond measure.

Kristy was preceded in death by her father and mother, Kenneth Gowdy and Billie Sue Gowdy; grandparents William P. And Lucinda Dallas and Max and Maude Gowdy.

Survivors include her daughter, Brooke Irby; her granddaughters, Sarah Gonzales and Shelby Cannady all of Kruger, Texas; her sister Lori Kidd of Pampa; her sister Polly Douglass of Hobbs, New Mexico ; niece Jennifer Kidd; nephews Kevin Kidd, Josh Douglass and Dylan Douglass and numerous others whom she loved with all her heart.
