Caroline Joy Smith, 60, died Sunday, February 24, 2013 in Pampa.
There are no services scheduled at this time. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Smith was born December 14, 1952 in Pampa. She had been a resident of Pampa most of her life, graduating from Pampa High School in 1971.
Survivors include two daughters: Misty Pritchard, Stormy Standefer and husband Kenny, all of Pampa; two brothers: Bill Thomas and wife Sue of Brownwood, Tim Thomas and wife Debbie of Pampa; four grandchildren: Brittney Pritchard, Raeden Mason, Lynnzy Standefer and Chase Pritchard; and a great-granddaughter: Aaliyah Caviness. Caroline was preceded in death by a granddaughter: Betthany Caviness; and her parents: Joy and Vesta Thomas.

Caroline was one of the first girls I got to "practice talking to" in elementary school. She had a wide range of interests, a down-to-earth sincerity, and really gentle eyes. We walked to school together whenever the timing coincided, talked at the lunch table whenever we were seated close enough, maintained all the trappings of being acquaintances that freed us to be friends.
